New Training Required for Select Volunteers

As a reminder, new IEEE compliance training is required for select IEEE volunteers. General resources that pertain to most IEEE volunteer roles, as well as links to other resource collections, are on this page. IEEE Technical Activities provides a variety of training opportunities in the form of workshops, webinars and self-guided tutorials. The training is designed to prepare IEEE volunteers for their various roles within the organization by educating them about the primary functions of IEEE, Technical Activities, and IEEE societies as well as about volunteer services offered by IEEE.

IEEE MCE

IEEE MCE is a dedicated partner made up of event industry experts driven to shape innovative and high-quality events. It specializes in event management, including registration, audience development, program design, sponsorship, publications, and financial management for events worldwide. IEEE sponsors more than 1,800 annual conferences and events worldwide, curating cutting-edge content for all of the technical fields of interest within IEEE.

Organization of IEEE

IEEE has a dual complementary regional and technical structure with organizational units based on geography and technical focus. It manages a separate organizational unit (IEEE-USA) which recommends policies and implements programs specifically intended to benefit the members, the profession, and the public in the United States.

Structure

IEEE is organized into:

Local sections within geographic regions

Chapters comprised of local members with similar technical interests

Societies and technical councils that compose technical divisions

Student branches at colleges and universities around the world

Student branch chapters; and affinity groups

IEEE employees

IEEE has approximately 1,000 employees who support various IEEE activities. The Executive Director is the full-time chief operating officer. The Management Council is comprised of the Executive Director and the senior executives who collectively manage all aspects of IEEE staff operations.
